Opening ceremonies of the 12th annual Florence Relay for Life to raise money for the American Cancer Society is set for noon tomorrow. This year’s relay is dedicated to the memory of Linda Bergmann, she passed away in October of last year. Bergmann, who had dealt with breast cancer for many years, was active in supporting other cancer survivors through the Cancer Resource Center. She was also an instrumental part of each year’s Relay for Life, personally purchasing medals that were presented to cancer survivors during the initial Survivor’s Walk each year. Many of the traditional features of the annual relay are set for Miller Park beginning at noon tomorrow, including the powerful Luminaria Ceremony at nine pm and the traditional “bad hair and PJ” contest Saturday morning. There will be several live musical acts and a couple new wrinkles as well. A celebrity walk will go from ten to 11:30 Saturday morning, featuring 14 celebrities including an Emmy Award winning producer/director and a contestant on the History Channel’s Top Shot.
