“We smoked it all”

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Video taken by a police dashboard camera
shows Oregon quarterback Darron Thomas was a passenger in the car
when cornerback Cliff Harris was cited for driving 118 mph in June.
The video obtained by KATU-TV also shows Officer Ray Stallsworth
ask Harris if there is marijuana in the car, and Harris responds,
“we smoked it all.” Harris denies there are any drugs in the car
and later says it was a cousin who was smoking the drug. Harris was
cited for driving with a suspended license in a car rented by a
university employee.

SEATTLE (AP) – Jose Bautista hit his major league-leading 35th
home run, Colby Rasmus and Aaron Hill each drive in four runs and
the Toronto Blue Jays rallied twice in a 13-7 win over the Seattle
Mariners last night. Luis Perez, who took over for Brad Mills in
the fourth, earned the win. He matched his career high with four
innings, allowing three hits, one run, two walks and three
strikeouts. Jason Vargas pitched four-plus innings in the loss.

PHOENIX (AP) – Diana Taurasi (tohr-AH’-see) picked off an errant
pass by Sue Bird and made a driving shot with 6.3 seconds left to
lift the Phoenix Mercury past the Seattle Storm 81-79. Swin Cash
missed an 8-footer and Taurasi knocked the ball out with 0.1
seconds left to preserve the win, which snapped Phoenix’s nine-game
losing streak to the Storm and completed the second-biggest
comeback in franchise history. Seattle has lost four of five.

SEATTLE (AP) – Mike Fucito scored two short-handed goals in the
second half and the Seattle Sounders beat Comunicaciones of
Guatemala 4-1 in CONCACAF Champions League group play last night.
Fucito put the Sounders in front in the 61st minute when he took a
pass from Fredy Montero and sent a shallow shot across the
goalmouth and inside the far post. Six minutes later, Fucito
extended the lead. Brad Evans also scored for Seattle.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – The Seattle Seahawks have signed veteran
safety Atari Bigby, adding experience to their young secondary.
Bigby was signed yesterday, and the team waived fullback Dorson
Boyce to clear a spot on the roster. Bigby spent six seasons with
Green Bay and was the full-time starter from 2007-09. His best
season came in 2007 when he recorded career highs in tackles,
interceptions and passes defended.
