Hundreds of letters and signed petitions urging the U.S. Forest Service to keep several miles of trails through vegetated areas of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area open will be delivered to ODNRA headquarters in Reedsport tomorrow morning.
Barb Rowland, a member of the group Save The Riders Dunes says they’ve been actively working to prevent the trail closures. Forest Service officials have been gathering input on which trails to keep open. Riders groups say the proposal that has been announced closes trails that have been in use for many years and would force more off-roaders into smaller areas… that would decrease safety while increasing noise according to Rowland.
