Labor Day travelers got hit with higher gas prices over the long holiday weekend. The National average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline jumped a nickel this week to $3.66 while Oregon’s average, as measured by Triple-A, surged eight cents to $3.83. Florence’s average price also took a large jump, most of it on Friday, increasing seven cents to $3.75 a gallon. Triple-A Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds said tropical storms on the east and gulf coasts led to closure and evacuation of refineries, causing short-term supply restrictions.
