Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – A man who tried to take a Clark County
sheriff’s deputy patrol car has been sentenced in Vancouver to 23
years in prison. Raymond Hall was accused of trying to run down the
deputy in the incident last December in Hazel Dell. He was
convicted in April of assault and sentenced yesterday in a plea
deal that avoids further prosecution in Multnomah County, where he
faced identity theft charges.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police have charged two U.S. Army
soldiers with raping of a pair of teenage girls in a downtown hotel
room. Police say the two soldiers are accused of taking part in the
rape along with “numerous” men in the room. Detectives arrested
22-year-old Sgt. Timothy Hartbeck and 27-year-old Stephen Bardos on
rape charges. Both are stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash.
The girls, ages 15 and 17, reported the alleged assault at an area
hospital on Sunday morning.

SARATOGA, Wyo. (AP) – Two couples from Oregon are hospitalized
after their single-engine plane crashed at an airport in Wyoming.
Law officers say Monday’s crash involved a Cessna Turbo that was
making a stop in Saratoga on the way to Eugene. Authorities
identify the injured as the 67-year-old pilot Ronney Bowker;
Laraine Bowker; Jerry Thenell and Mary Thenell. All are from
Eugene. The FAA is investigating.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon State Bar has imposed a 30-day
suspension on a former top aide to Oregon’s attorney general for
actions in a Hood River pollution case. Brent Foster resigned as
John Kroger’s special counsel for environmental matters last year
after admitting that he untruthfully denied taking a water quality
sample to support a criminal case against the owner of Hood River
Juice. The Oregonian reports Foster says he made a “dumb
mistake.”
