EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – New details have been released about abuse
that resulted in the 2009 death of 15-year-old Jeanette Maples in
Eugene. State caseworkers’ reports about Maples’ 12-year-old sister
and 5-year-old brother were used by Lane County deputies to get a
search warrant for the family home. Released this week after media
requests, the documents say the 12-year-old girl said their mother
didn’t mean to hurt Jeanette. Her 5-year-old brother described how
Jeanette was beaten bloody. The mother — Angela McAnulty — is on
death row.
CENTRAL POINT, Ore. (AP) – An autopsy has found that a
32-year-old bartender from Central Point died of multiple stab
wounds, and her former boyfriend has been arraigned on a murder
charge. The Medford Mail Tribune reports 36-year-old Jeffrey Wayne
Wheeler was arraigned Tuesday charges that he killed Jessica
Bethany, whose body was found Sunday in her apartment. The paper
reports that Wheeler and Bethany have a 1-year-old daughter and
children from previous relationships.
VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – A Portland man accused of driving a
convertible from which a passenger fell to his death in southwest
Washington has pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide and felony
hit-and-run. The Columbian reports Russell Amon entered his pleas
yesterday and scheduled for trial on Nov. 14.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) – A man accused in the death of his former
landlady has been transported from Oregon to Idaho, where he is

week after a couple reported they had been held at gunpoint at
their cabin near Lake Owyhee. He was also being sought in the death
of 53-year-old Jennifer Kirkpatrick, who was found dead last week
at her Caldwell, Idaho, home.
