PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police say four defendants are
due in court today in what is believed to be the biggest drug bust
in the department’s history. Investigators from the Police Bureau
teamed up with Drug Enforcement Administration agents to seize 28
pounds of heroin, 2 pounds of cocaine and $156,000 in cash while
executing search warrants at three homes Wednesday.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) – Gov. John Kitzhaber is pitching Oregon
to Asian trade officials and business leaders. Kitzhaber’s office
said Thursday that the governor signed an agreement with the Korean
International Trade Association to share information about
potential exports and investments. Kitzhaber has met with South
Korean Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik as well as officials from
Hanjin Shipping, a Korean company that transports containers
through the Port of Portland.

McMINNVILLE, Ore. (AP) – An unsuspecting Oregon couple’s
ascendance to Internet stardom happened by accident, and now a
video of them has racked up more than 2 million hits on YouTube.
Grandparents Esther and Bruce Huffman unwittingly pressed
“record” on their new laptop’s Web camera in mid-August, creating
a video that was recorded without their knowledge and captures them
goofing around, worrying about wrinkles in their faces and
questioning whether the camera is working.

KELSO, Wash. (AP) – Six more people have been arrested on
charges stemming from last week’s union protests over the Port of
Longview’s new grain terminal, bringing to eight the number of
people arrested. The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office says the six
were booked and released for investigation of criminal trespass on
railroad tracks.
