OAKRIDGE, Ore. (AP) – City leaders at Oakridge have declared
several city properties surplus, giving them the option of putting
them on sale to fix a budget shortfall. The Eugene Register-Guard
reports that city revenues dropped from $1.2 million to $200,000 in
the last two years. The city budget currently has a $420,000
deficit. In total, 10 properties were declared surplus and are
assessed to be worth $1.1 million.

BEAVERCREEK, Ore. (AP) – Clackamas County Sheriff deputies are
looking for a man who pulled a gun on a taxi driver in Beavercreek
and carjacked his cab. The Oregonian reports that the taxi
responded to a pickup call at a restaurant in Oregon City. The man
told the driver to head to Beavercreek. After driving about 15
miles, the man pulled a handgun on the driver and forced him out of
the yellow Prius. The driver was unharmed.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) – Gov. John Kitzhaber is pitching Oregon
to Asian trade officials and business leaders. Kitzhaber’s office
said he governor signed an agreement with the Korean International
Trade Association to share information about potential exports and
investments. The governor continues his two-week trip with a flight
to China today.

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) – The Oregonian has won three first-place
honors in the 2011 C.B. Blethen Memorial Awards for distinguished
newspaper reporting. The Herald & News of Klamath Falls won two.
The annual awards were established in 1977 in honor of Blethen,
publisher of The Seattle Times from 1915 to 1941.
