There are a variety of things you can do to help prevent the spread of colds and flu as the weather turns cooler and people move indoors: cover your cough and sneeze, wash your hands often, regularly wipe surfaces like counters, door frames and table tops, and stay home when you’re sick.
But, Betsy Meredith says there’s one other important thing to take care of. Lane County’s Public Health Nursing Supervisor says getting an annual influenza vaccination will protect not only you, but people you care about. Meredith says each flu season usually brings a different type of influenza.
This year’s vaccine is exactly like last year’s. She says the antibodies don’t last and you still need to get a shot this year. Flu shots are available at several locations in the Florence area.
