Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A ball of light in the sky last night was
reported by some residents around Bend and west of Eugene. KTVZ
heard from a half-dozen people who reported seeing a very bright
white or green light about 8:15 p.m. The Register Guard reports
several callers described a yellow-blue-green light with a flame
trail heading west about 8:20 p.m. It was not the old NASA research
satellite which is expected to fall to earth tomorrow.
ROSEBURG, Ore. (AP) – Photos on a lost iPod that was traced back
to its owner have led to a child pornography charge in Douglas
County against an Oakland-area man. The Register Guard reports the
device was left at a Sutherlin gas station last October. It sat
unclaimed for months before an attendant asked his boss if he could
take it home. When it was being powered up the attendant’s wife saw
pornography and called police. The State Police crime lab traced
the phone to 33-year-old Jason Goodman, who was arrested Tuesday.
OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Clackamas County deputies say no one
was seriously injured when an SUV rear-ended a deputy’s patrol car
at high speed early today near Oak Grove. The deputy and the other
driver were taken to a hospital as a precaution. Investigators
believe intoxicants may have played a role in the crash.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland police forensics truck collided
with a bicycle last night as the truck was pulling out of a parking
lot. Police say the 22-year-old bike rider was taken to a hospital
for treatment of minor injuries.
