PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police say a 72-year-old man is
in custody after robbing a Portland McDonald’s with a knife. Police
say David Roisland entered the McDonald’s through an unlocked door
while the cleaning crew worked. Roisland was arrested shortly after
when the workers followed him and called police. When he was taken
into custody he complained of chest pains. He was later booked in
county jail.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police responded to a report of
gunfire at an apartment complex in the same area where a teenager
was killed this summer. KATU-TV reports a witness says she heard a
string of gunfire early yesterday morning. Members of the Portland
police gang task force were also at the scene yesterday. A Portland
police officer in the area heard the shots go off. There were no
injuries reported.
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The former boyfriend of a 32-year-old
bartender from Central Point who died of multiple stab wounds has
pleaded not guilty to murder and arson charges. KTVL-TV reports
36-year-old Jeffrey Wheeler was also charged with abuse of a
corpse. Deputy District Attorney David Orr says Wheeler may face an
extra charge related to the presence of a child the couple shared,
who was in the home the night the woman died.
JOHN DAY, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police are increasing the
reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in
the case of a shooting that injured an Eastern Oregon horse so
badly the mare had to be euthanized. State police increased the
reward to $2,500 yesterday. The 8-year-old quarter horse was found
in a remote area of Grant County on Sept. 19. The horse was shot
from the road with a high velocity bullet as she grazed in a fenced
pasture near John Day. The mare was used for roping cattle and had
a significant pedigree.
