Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – TriMet says it’s investigating a complaint
that a driver kicked a woman and crying baby off a bus in
Hillsboro, saying, “I can’t drive with that noise.” A TriMet
spokeswoman says drivers can take steps if they believe safety is
in jeopardy. TriMet officials will meet this week with the driver.
Another passenger on the bus told The Oregonian the baby wasn’t
that loud and all the other passengers got off the bus in protest.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A West Salem man is due in court today to
answer five counts of trying to bribe public officials. The
Statesman Journal reports E.M. Easterly claims he was only trying
to make a point at a meeting of the Polk Soil and Water
Conservation District on March 9. A meeting transcript shows
Easterly said he had $600 that he was willing to offer board
members who were prepared to sign a pledge to not approve the
report until it was verified. He disputes that his actions were an
attempt to bribe.

WOODBURN, Ore. (AP) – An Amtrak train has struck and killed a
pedestrian on the tracks at Woodburn. Police say the train was
unable to stop in time yesterday afternoon. The southbound train
was delayed about two hours on the trip from Seattle to Los
Angeles. Amtrak says no one on the train was injured. Police
haven’t released the victim’s name.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say the woman found dead at the
scene of a high-speed crash in southwest Portland was the driver.
She was ejected from the vehicle early yesterday and died at the
scene. Police say the driver lost control on a curve, crossed the
median, crashed through a fence and sheared off a tree before
smashing into an empty house.
