Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from
The Associated Press

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – It’s hard to believe Doug Baldwin when he
claims to have anger management issues. Mr. 5-foot-10, 189 pounds
of Stanford education has problems with his temper? Baldwin says
it’s all part of his competitiveness. It’s why he thrived as an
undrafted free agent during the Seattle Seahawks training camp and
why it wasn’t a shock that he made the final 53-man roster. And
it’s also not surprising that Baldwin has quickly carved a niche in
Seattle’s offense, providing one of the few highlights for a unit
that’s mostly struggled through four games.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) – The New York Giants defense has
always prided itself on stopping the run. And that’s something the
Giants haven’t done the past two weeks despite beating Philadelphia
and Arizona. The Eagles gashed the Giants for 177 yards on the
ground with LeSean McCoy picking up 128. The Cardinals followed by
gaining 156 yards, with Beanie Wells getting 138. Coach Tom
Coughlin says that’s not a good formula for winning, and he intends
to take “extraordinary means” to solve the problem this week
against the Seahawks.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – California’s biggest advantage over No. 9
Oregon tonight may be that the Golden Bears surprised the Ducks
last season. Oregon struggled against Cal in Strawberry Canyon,
emerging with a 15-13 victory. It was the fewest points and yards –
317 – for the speedy Ducks last season. It begs the question: If
the Bears did it before, can they again? LaMichael James was held
to 91 yards rushing – at the time, a season low.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) – A highly touted high school player from the
Tucson area, Ka’Deem Carey was expected to have an immediate impact
at Arizona. It took a few games to get there, but now the freshman
running back is a key contributor for a team trying to improve its
running game. Carey scored the first three touchdowns of his
college career in Arizona’s 48-41 loss to USC Saturday and hopes to
build on it this week against Oregon State.
