Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland jury has awarded $2 million to
a foster child abused and starved for two years. A lawyer for the
boy argued that the Oregon Department of Human Resources failed to
protect the child despite repeated reports to a child abuse
hotline. The Oregonian reports the boy weighed more at age 1 than
when he was removed from Thelma and William Beaver’s foster home at
age 3. The boy’s 5-year-old sister weighed just 28 pounds when she
was hospitalized with a broken skull.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Labor union members joined Occupy Portland
protesters in a march last night that drew hundreds to the streets
of downtown Portland. Marchers included children and dogs, babies
in strollers and people on bikes. Little rush hour traffic
disruption was reported. Occupy Portland demonstrators said the
march was an effort to engage the city in their efforts.

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street
movement, protesters have camped out at a tribal center in Eastern
Oregon. They’re against severance packages for their board of
trustees and for expanding their charter school. The East Oregonian
reports the protest began Tuesday, and yesterday six campers
remained. Members of the board of trustees have defended the
six-week severance for members don’t run for re-election or are
defeated.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – A lawyer for a Bend man charged with murder in
his wife’s disappearance has told jurors that Steven Blaylock
fought back to defend himself after his wife attacked him in a
drunken rage. But Deschutes County District Attorney Patrick
Flaherty said yesterday that if Blaylock took the beating he
claims, police photos would show it. Blaylock is accused of
murdering his wife Lori and dumping her body in a river. Her body
was never found.
