PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A standoff at a street corner in downtown
Portland ended mostly peacefully yesterday afternoon in the closest
mass confrontation between protesters and police since the Occupy
Portland encampment was dismantled Sunday. Officers used pepper
spray, but Portland Police Lt. Robert King told KGW-TV he didn’t
know the circumstances that led officers to use force. He said
officers’ goal was to keep streets open.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The City of Portland’s former parking
manager faces federal corruption charges. The Oregonian says the
charges accuse Ellis K. McCoy of accepting bribes, gifts and travel
while steering contracts to a Florida parking meter supplier. The
U.S. attorney’s office alleges in a criminal information that McCoy
accepted checks and cash totaling $124,000 beginning in June 2004,
as well as gifts and travel. He’s due in court Dec. 8.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Three officials have resigned from the
Oregon Lottery amid growing concerns about plans to launch a
website designed to draw younger players. The Oregonian reports
marketing director Carole Hardy, public affairs manager Mary Loftin
and retail operations manager Tim Eaton resigned on Tuesday.
Lottery Director Larry Niswender gave little explanation for the
departures. Work on The ORcade site stopped last month.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police are asking the public’s
help in finding a missing 18-year-old they say is endangered by a
“critical mental health situation.” Henry Willard Smith III was
last seen Wednesday evening in downtown Portland. He’s described as
an 18-year-old white male, 5-foot-11, weighing 150 pounds. He has
medium-length brown hair and blue eyes. Smith may be driving a gold
1986 Jaguar XJS, Oregon license plate 9P1363.
