Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The ex-husband of a woman killed by Oregon
death row inmate Gary Haugen calls Gov. John Kitzhaber a coward for
halting Haugen’s execution. Ard Pratt is a former Multnomah County
sheriff’s deputy who responded to the scene in 1981 after his
ex-wife, Mary Archer, was raped and beaten to death. Pratt and his
daughter, Kathy Pratt, tell KGW that the governor dismissed the law
and the will of the people last week when he gave Haugen a
reprieve. Ard Pratt says the governor should have put his personal
feelings aside.

HOOD RIVER, Ore. (AP) – A mother and her two adult children have
been accused of shooting their father to death in 2003 in Hood
River. Hood River County deputies say they arrested Rosario Munoz
De Garcia and her daughter and son, Guadalupe Garcia and Jorge
Garcia Munoz. They face murder and conspiracy charges in the death
of Faustino Garcia Garcia.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – With Richard Lariviere (la-RIV’-ee-AIR’) now
officially fired as president of the University of Oregon, the
Board of Higher Education is looking to mend fences in Eugene. Many
in the university community are angered by the ouster of the
popular leader. Chancellor George Pernsteiner and a board member
will be in Eugene today to meet with students, faculty and others
as officials try to chart a way forward for the university. The
faculty assembly is scheduled to meet and take a vote on what to do
next.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Board of Pharmacy is warning of
what it calls an “alarming” number of reports that druggists are
mixing up prescriptions for two similar-sounding drugs, Trazadone
and Tramadol. Trazadone is used to treat depression, anxiety and
insomnia. Tramadol is used to treat pain. The Oregonian reports
three cases of the mix-up have occurred in the past three months.
