Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Five people have been sent to a hospital in
critical condition from a three-alarm apartment fire in Salem. KGW
reports two adults and two children were rescued from one unit and
one adult from a second. Firefighters responding just before 2 this
morning saw flames shooting from upstairs units of the fourplex. An
adult was spotted at an upstairs window trying to escape, but
passed out. The Red Cross is assisting three displaced families.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Liquor Control Commission
proposes two rule changes to expand sales. One would allow more
liquor stores to expand into beer and wine sales. The other would
make it easier for big grocery chains to open “store within a
store” liquor outlets.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Santa visited the Occupy Eugene camp
bearing gifts. KVAL reports the occupants were excited until they
found out Santa was handing out soap and job applications for a
temp agency. Santa told the campers to take more showers and get a
job. The Santa visit was a stunt for the Donkey Show on KFLY-FM.
The show’s Drew Tydeman says it was taken lightheartedly and Santa
left before there was a confrontation.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The Rogue Valley Transportation District
has installed a bicycle repair stand at the transfer station in
downtown Medford. It holds a bike at working height and includes
bike tools on steel cables, plus a free air pump. The Mail Tribune
reports the district purchased the repair stand for about $1,000
with federal transportation money for air quality improvement. The
district also plans to install a bicycle repair stand in Ashland.
