Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) – The parents of a 23-year-old man killed on
an Ashland bike path are adding a second reward fund to help find
the killer. David Grubbs was attacked so brutally he was nearly
decapitated on Nov. 19. Police say the family is setting up a
second fund so that if police solve the crime without the help of a
tip, the money would be returned to those who donated it. Over the
past two weeks, police have re-interviewed everyone on Grubbs’
phone contact list, as well as family, friends and everyone he
worked with.

BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) – A $500 reward is being offered for
information in the out-of-season killing of a bighorn sheep in
Eastern Oregon’s Baker County. The Oregonian reports a ram carcass
was found Wednesday between Huntington and Richland along Brownlee
Reservoir. The animal had been killed around Dec. 22. State police
say the ram’s head was removed but the rest of the carcass was
abandoned.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – A lone gray wolf has wandered across the
Oregon border into California in what wildlife officials are
calling a historic event. State biologists in California yesterday
tracked the wolf’s position to a few miles south of the state line
in Siskiyou County. A GPS collar was placed on the wolf in
February. Since then, the 2 1/2-year-old male has wandered more than
300 miles. The last confirmed wild gray wolf in California was
killed in 1924.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Corvallis firefighters say smoke from a
commercial dryer fire has prompted the closure of the Dixon
Recreation Center on the Oregon State University campus.
Firefighters doused a small fire inside a clothes dryer in the
building at about 5 p.m. yesterday. However, significant smoke had
spread throughout the facility so it was closed for the rest of the
night.
