SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon State Motor Pool says 145 vehicles
are damaged from floodwaters that inundated its parking lot in
Salem last Thursday. The Statesman Journal reports insurance
adjusters are adding up the damage. Officials say the motor pool
lot manager arrived about 8 a.m. Thursday and started moving
vehicles, but parts of the lot were under 2 feet of water within an
hour.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An audience of several hundred is expected
at a Portland Airport hotel conference room tonight to hear from
three people who challenge the idea that human activities are a
major contributor to climate change. The Oregon chapter of the
American Meteorological Society is sponsoring the meeting to hear
from global warming skeptics.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The burial of a Navy veteran today at
Willamette National Cemetery will be the 1,000th in a national
program that provides military honors to homeless, indigent vets.
Stevenson L. Roy died of natural causes Dec. 16, and Multnomah
County officials found records that showed he served during the
Vietnam War.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A woman believed to be the oldest person in
Oregon and one of the oldest people in the world died yesterday at
a rehabilitation center in Creswell. Delma Kollar was 113 or 114,
depending on different records. The Register-Guard reports she was
a school teacher in Kansas and California before moving to Oregon
in 1982. She outlived two husbands and two of three children.
