Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A federal magistrate judge in Portland
says an Oregon man indicted on securities fraud charges in New York
City can be released from jail, but she imposed multiple conditions
on John Kinnucan (kuh-NOO’-kun). Kinnucan was arrested last week in
Portland and jailed without bail after the government said he left
threatening voicemail messages with prosecutors. He told the judge
yesterday that his messages were “mean-spirited” but “not
threats.”

SEATTLE (AP) – U.S. Sen. Patty Murray’s downtown Seattle office
is among a handful of congressional offices that received
threatening letters containing a suspicious powdery substance that
proved harmless. The letters say there’s a “10 percent chance you
have just been exposed to a lethal pathogen.” The letters were
postmarked Portland, but the Portland return address appears to be
phony.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Gov. John Kitzhaber is stepping up pressure
on Republicans in the Oregon House, who are stalling on the
governor’s top health care and education initiatives. Kitzhaber has
called a news conference to discuss his priorities this morning, an
hour before lawmakers are scheduled to take action on Kitzhaber’s
proposal to redesign the way Oregon Health Plan patients get health
care.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – The Deschutes County sheriff’s office is
trying to locate the owner of a miniature donkey found wandering
last weekend in northeast Bend. Cpl. Neil Mackey says the donkey
temporarily dubbed ‘Shrek’ appears to have been cared for in the
past but may have been loose for some time. The office is
withholding additional details such as age and gender to help
identify the real owner.
