Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) – The U.S. Coast Guard has dismissed
negligent homicide and other charges against the sole survivor of a
2010 helicopter crash off the Washington coast. The attorney for
Lt. Lance Leone says his client “started cheering” when he heard
the news. Leone was the co-pilot of the MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter
flying from Astoria, Ore., to the crew’s base in Sitka, Alaska,
when it crashed. The helicopter struck some power lines. The crash
killed three crew members and left Leone hurt.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – A Bend woman has been sentenced to a decade of
probation after she was accused of molesting her 8-year-old
autistic son and streaming the act online to a Michigan man who
posed as a psychologist. It’s one of at least seven cases across
the nation involving Steven Demink, who was sentenced last year to
life in prison. Federal prosecutors say he targeted single mothers
on a website and persuaded them to sexually assault their children
and send him the images by stream or email.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a White City foster parent
has been accused of assault and mistreatment of a year-old girl
held under scalding water after defecating in the tub during her
bath. Emergency room doctors at Rogue Valley Medical Center called
police Sunday night about the child’s first- and second-degree
burns. A Jackson County sheriff’s department spokeswoman says
investigators found that 28-year-old Trevor Emptage got upset with
the girl and held her in scalding water.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police have arrested
environmental activist Tre Arrow for investigation of domestic
violence-related assault. The Oregonian reports he was booked into
jail yesterday on $5,000 bail. Arrow is on the ballot as a Portland
mayoral candidate. He joins nearly two dozen other mayoral
candidates in the May primary. Arrow, who changed his name from
Michael Scarpitti, served prison time for setting fire to cement
and logging trucks in 2001 in the Portland area.
