PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A man convicted of killing his parents in
1985 in the Cedar Mill community near Portland is scheduled to be
released from prison tomorrow. The state parole board voted in
November to release Kenneth Janowski, who had pleaded guilty to
aggravated murder and won a state supreme court case in 2010 that
said he was eligible for parole after 20 years. In 1995, the
45-year-old married a woman he met as a pen pal.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Kroc Community Center in Salem expects to
reopen its swimming pool tomorrow, following a police investigation
into a man’s death. The Statesman Journal reports he was found
unconscious during an open swim Tuesday, and lifeguards and
paramedics were unable to revive him.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Two women standing on a Portland street
corner were hit by a cab involved in a collision last night and
knocked through a store window. Lt. Robert King told The Oregonian
both women were taken to a hospital with traumatic injuries. The
drivers of the cab and the other car also were taken to hospitals.
No one was in the store at the time.

BEAVERTON, Ore. (AP) – The Symantec Corp. has notified 53
workers at its Beaverton office their jobs will be cut this spring.
The office houses sales and engineering workers for the Mountain
View, Calif., company. Symantec makes Norton computer security
products.
