Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a man was wounded
officer-involved shooting in North Portland that occurred during
what they termed an “active tactical incident.” The Oregonian
reports gunfire broke out at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday as the
Washington County sheriff’s tactical negotiations team and the
Portland Police Bureau’s gang enforcement team approached a house.
No officers were injured.

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) – Tacoma police are investigating the fatal
shooting of a 3-year-old boy who was playing with a handgun he
found in the family car. Police haven’t identified the family, but
say the car has Oregon plates. Police say the boy found the gun
under the seat of the car while the family was stopped at a gas
station early this morning. Both adults were out of the car.

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. (AP) – Klamath County commissioners have
decided not to ask to raise their property taxes to pay for the
jail. The Herald and News newspaper reports that the board instead
plans to move road maintenance funds to the sheriff’s office under
a bill approved by the state Legislature earlier this year. The
$1.6 million levy would have cost the owner of a $200,000 home an
extra $80 a year.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police believe a suspect in a Portland
bank robbery has been living under a false identity and eluding
Michigan authorities for 28 years. Steven Wright was arrested and
charged with a bank robbery on Monday. A witness followed Wright
and told police he had changed clothes after leaving the bank. He
was found with several weapons, including a handgun, pepper spray,
a stun gun, brass knuckles and knives.
