EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Police say a Eugene man accused of aiming
his pickup truck at a neighbor out walking his dog has surrendered.
The Register-Guard reports that Frank Ochoa was booked into the
Lane County Jail yesterday for investigation of attempted murder
and other charges. Police say the victim remains hospitalized with
non-life-threatening injuries. The dog was killed.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police have arrested a man accused of
assaulting a gay couple in downtown Portland last week but said
they are still looking for a second suspect who showed a knife
during the fight and helped damage an SUV. Paul Martinson faces
several charges in the incident Wednesday. The couple told police
they were holding hands when one of the men made anti-gay slurs,
sparking a verbal argument that escalated into a physical fight.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Jury deliberations resume in Portland
today in a $177 million lawsuit over the 2008 crash of a helicopter
that killed nine firefighters on a wildfire in Northern California.
A pilot who survived the crash and the widow of one who didn’t are
suing General Electric, claiming that GE knew the engines it made
for the Sikorsky S-61N helicopter had a design flaw.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon officials hoping to save more than
10,000 homeowners from foreclosure face a tight deadline to get a
counseling and mediation program ramped up. The Legislature passed
a bill requiring lenders to meet with homeowners who request
mediation. The attorney general’s office will have about three
months to get the program in place.
