PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Republican candidate for Oregon labor
commissioner is suing Democratic Secretary of State Kate Brown over
the date of the election. Republican Bruce Starr argues that
elections officials are misinterpreting an obscure 2009 law that
Brown says requires the race for labor commissioner to be on the
ballot in November rather than May. Starr accuses Brown of playing
politics to help Democratic candidate Brad Avakian.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon Lottery Commission report says
there needs to be more focus on problem gambling as it considers
online games. A report prepared for the commission recommends calls
for a ban on cartoon characters in advertising.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Willie Nelson has endorsed the initiative
that would legalize marijuana in Oregon and appears in a video in
support of the Oregon Cannabis Tax Act. The singer told The
Oregonian he was enlisted in the campaign last week by activist
Paul Stanford of Portland who helped Nelson obtain an Oregon
medical marijuana card. Nelson says pot should be regulated and
taxed like tobacco, freeing police to focus limited resources on
more-serious offenses.
