Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A group protesting an arbitrator’s ruling
in favor of rehiring Portland police officer says that officer
should leave town. Protesters affiliated with the Albina
Ministerial Alliance say the city is a “powder keg.” Officer
Ronald Frashour was fired in 2010 after shooting 25-year-old Aaron
Campbell in the back. Campbell was fleeing. Frashour said he
thought Campbell was going for a weapon. The arbitrator said Friday
that Frashour followed his training and that the city had no cause
to fire him.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a shooting early Sunday in
Portland was the 31st gang shooting of the year in the city,
compared with 17 at the same time last year. Police say a
22-year-old man was standing on the porch of a house where a gang
party was under way when he was shot. He was taken to a hospital in
critical condition with a wound in his abdomen. KATU-TV reports the
man has a criminal record that includes arrests for felony assault,
domestic violence, drug and gun charges.

OREM, Utah (AP) – Oregon police say the parents of a 1-year-old
boy who drowned in a washing machine will likely not face charges.
A Hillsboro police spokesman says the death of 21-month-old Ollie
Hebb appears accidental. Tiffany Hebb tells The Deseret News her
son used to help her with the laundry by throwing clothes into the
top-loading washer. She says Ollie vanished for a few minutes on
March 23, and she then found him wedged inside the water-filled
machine. He died after a day on life support.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The AAA auto club reports the average
price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Oregon is $4.11.
That’s up 5 cents in a week and 16 cents in a month. It’s 18 cents
higher than the national average. Some metro prices from the AAA’s
survey yesterday include: Portland $4.09, Salem $4.11,
Eugene-Springfield $4.15 and Medford-Ashland $4.17.
