VALE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say three people have died in a traffic crash in southeast Oregon. The crash happened yesterday afternoon on Highway 26 in Malheur County, about 30 miles northwest of Vale. Troopers say preliminary information shows the crash involved a passenger vehicle and a pickup.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Police have identified a toddler who was fatally injured in a tractor accident in Clackamas County over the weekend. The Clackamas Co. Sheriff’s Office says the 18-month-old girl, Olivia Burkholder, suffered a fractured skull and internal injuries. The accident happened at her family property in Boring on Saturday night.

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – Public health officials in Oregon are so worried about the whooping cough epidemic in neighboring Washington state that some nurses are giving out free vaccinations in shopping center parking lots. The East Oregonian newspaper reports that Oregon has 120 reported cases of whooping cough since January, most in Multnomah and Washington counties.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A plan for a memorial to house the cremains of thousands of Oregon State Hospital patients has hit a snag. A historic building constructed in 1896 is expected to house the remains and transform the space into a public memorial. The project was initially scheduled to be completed this year, but the Salem Historic Landmarks Commission recently decided the project didn’t meet the standards for restoring historic buildings, sending architects back to the drawing board.
