Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

VALE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police are investigating a crash that killed three people yesterday afternoon. Police say a passenger vehicle and a pickup truck collided on Highway 26 in Malheur County, about 30 miles northwest of Vale. The victims’ names have not yet been released.

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – The number of cases of whooping cough has skyrocketed in the last year and nurses are giving out free vaccines. The East Oregonian newspaper reports that Oregon has 120 reported cases of whooping cough since January, most in Multnomah and Washington counties. Oregon had four pertussis-related deaths since 2007, all infants.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The AAA auto club reports the average price of a gallon of gas in Oregon is $4.05. That’s down 3 cents in a week, but it’s 19 cents higher than the national average. The highest prices were in the Medford-Ashland area and the lowest were in Portland.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A plan for a memorial to house the cremated remains of thousands of Oregon State Hospital patients has hit a snag. The project was initially scheduled to be completed this year, but the Salem Historic Landmarks Commission recently decided the project didn’t meet the standards for restoring historic buildings. The memorial is to be constructed in a building built in 1896.
