SISTERS, Ore. (AP) – The Deschutes County sheriff’s office says a thorough search of the wreckage of a light plane that crashed in Central Oregon shows two people were killed. Earlier reports said three people died. Lt. Chad Davis says 68-year-old Harry Mortimer of Chicago and 52-year-old Patrick Franzen of Bend were the only people aboard the plane. The kit-built high-performance aircraft crashed yesterday on the east side of the Cascade Range near Sisters. The crash is under investigation.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A 12-year-old Oregon boy who survived a heart attack during basketball practice three months ago has died after collapsing at baseball practice. Fire officials say some of the same paramedics who helped revive Isaac Arzate (ahr-ZAH’-tay) in January rushed to his school Friday and tried again to save him. Marion County Deputy Medical Examiner Rodge Womack said yesterday the Salem boy died at a hospital. Isaac had surgery to repair a heart defect following his Jan. 6 collapse.

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Police in Corvallis say a 20-year-old Oregon State University student has been found dead in her sorority house. Lt. Tim Brewer says police and medics responded Monday afternoon to the Alpha Chi Omega sorority house. They found the body of Lauren C. Snow. Police believe she died sometime over the weekend. The Oregon state medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death. Brewer says police found no evidence of any criminal activity.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland-area officials say a woman’s body has been recovered from the Willamette River. The Multnomah County sheriff’s river patrol and Portland fire crews responded yesterday afternoon to a call about a floating body near Swan Island. The woman was not immediately identified and her cause of death was not known.
