PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland jury has awarded $332,000 to two men, finding they were fired after they complained to Oregon regulators about the lack of an on-the-job toilet. The Oregonian reports that Douglas Eki and Jason Doctolero did mechanical work at Portland International Airport and urinated in a bucket because they couldn’t get to a toilet fast enough.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – State economists today will release the new revenue and economic forecast. The quarterly forecast shows how much money the state is expected to collect and sometimes requires lawmakers to adjust the budget.
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The Jackson County sheriff’s office says a burglar stole antique coins and watches valued at as much as $70,000 from a Medford-area home. Deputies are asking for information from the public to help solve last week’s crime. They say the oldest coin dates back to 1528 and the other eight were from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) – A prosecutor says a Vancouver couple kept two young autistic boys in a dark room with a cage-like door for convenience while the defense counters that the child-proofing was intended to keep the children from harming themselves. The opening statements came as the trial of John Eckhart and Alayna Higdon opened yesterday. They’re charged with unlawful imprisonment of Eckhart’s sons, ages 5 and 7.
