PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Triple-A reports the average price of a gallon of gas in Oregon is $4.22 for the beginning of Memorial Day weekend, 55 cents higher than the national average. Some metro prices from the AAA survey — Portland $4.20, Salem $4.21, Eugene-Springfield $4.26, and Medford-Ashland $4.27.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – An assault suspect collapsed and had trouble breathing after his arrest at a Eugene restaurant. Police gave the 55-year-old CPR and an ambulance took him to a Springfield hospital. The Register-Guard reports the man struck an employee yesterday afternoon when she made a call because he refused to leave. Witnesses say he had been yelling curse words.

TROUTDALE, Ore. (AP) – The Reynolds School District says informal talks were held with striking teachers yesterday to clarify issues for mediation today. The district says the goal is for a settlement with the Reynolds Education Association that would allow classes to resume on Tuesday. The district east of Portland has 11,000 enrolled students.

LAKESIDE, Ore. (AP) – Officials in the city of Lakeside haven’t been able to access some computer files since the city administrator was fired two weeks ago. They say the passwords left by Charlie Hill don’t work. Mayor Ed Gowan told The World he suspects Hill locked the files in retaliation, accusations Hill denies.
