Far West League Baseball and Softball Honors
Siuslaw’s Jake Thompson was named as the Far West League’s Most Valuable baseball player by coaches last week. The junior right-hander was also named to the Far West First Team as a pitcher. Joining him was Ryan Smith in the infield. Three Vikings earned 2nd team honors… Josh Iabichello and Alex Snow in the infield, Sam Johnson in the outfield. John Dodson and Joseph Dotson each picked up honorable mention.
Breanna Knapp was named the Far West’s First Team Softball Pitcher. Three other Vikings were named to the first team… Kati Thrall in the infield; Lona Dengler and Shelby Carpenter in the outfield. April Ruf was named to the 2nd team as catcher.
Trophy Bass
The 30th annual Florence-Siuslaw Lions Elliot Fun Bass Tournament is set for this weekend. June 2nd and 3rd anglers will ply the waters of Tahkenitch Lake. The base of operations for the tournament is the Tahkenitch boat launch… entry fee is $60 per team.
