PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland teacher has been placed on leave while the David Douglas School District investigates a complaint that he pulled a student’s hair. The mother of the 14-year-old boy told KGY the teacher should be charged with assault for the incident yesterday at Floyd Light Middle School. Police say an officer took a report.
OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – A 73-year-old Lake Oswego man has been convicted of interfering with a peace officer and resisting arrest, but Gary Buford was found not guilty of assaulting a public safety officer. Buford was accused of biting a Lake Oswego police officer who went to his home in April 2011 with a code enforcement officer who suspected Buford of illegally cutting trees near his house.
NEWPORT, Ore. (AP) – The Lincoln County sheriff’s office says a 76-year-old Logsden man is dead after an ATV accident. Deputies say James Smith was towing logs near Logsden when his ATV rolled, trapping him underneath. He was found by family members.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – TriMet is reminding pedestrians to watch out for MAX trains, after a close call Tuesday at the Gateway Transit Center in Portland. The light rail train operator deployed the emergency brake to avoid hitting a man using a walker in a crosswalk.
