Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…

Jake Thompson and Nikki Parry are Coast Radio Sports’ Athletes of the Year…

Siuslaw athletes Nikki Parry and Jake Thompson were honored as Coast Radio Sports' Athletes of the Year during a special ceremony June 1st at the high school.

Thompson, a junior at Siuslaw High School, excelled in three varsity sports this year, starting by moving from quarterback to tight end on the gridirion where he helped lead the Vikings to the State Championship game against La Salle Prep.  From there, he moved indoors to the basketball court where he filled every role on the court including point guard, forward and post and led the team in scoring and rebounding.

On the diamond is where Thompson glittered… He hit .432 in Far West League games and struck out 86 batters while compiling a 1.35 ERA on the mound.  Along the way, Thompson was named to the Far West First team in Football and Basketball, as well as earning the designation as Most Valuable Player in the league in Baseball.

Parry was a beast on the hardwood… in basketball she dominated at the low post averaging 12.4 points per game and 11.8 rebounds.  The Viking Senior was named to the Far West League’s First Team and was second in voting for the league’s Most Valuable Player behind the eventual State MVP.

Parry also excelled in the lanes as she was named once again as the District Most Valuable Bowler and was the Vikings’ pin leader with 9,299 this season.
