GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – Oregon Fish and Wildlife commissioners vote tomorrow on proposed revisions to state trapping regulations. The state Department of Fish and Wildlife staff is backing the idea of no-trapping zones along trails and campgrounds. But game program manager Tom Thornton says the department wants to keep open the option of trapping problem animals such as bears.
SANDY, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon man with a case pending before the National Labor Relations Board is asking that three of the five board members be disqualified. Richard Harman says the board members were not properly appointed by President Barack Obama. The president named three NLRB members January while the Senate took a 20-day break, allowing them to serve temporarily without being confirmed by the Senate.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The BLM has named its new acting state director for Oregon and Washington. The agency says Mike Mottice replaces Ed Shepard, who served as state director from 2006 until the end of May. Mottice will serve during a search for a permanent state director. The agency manages nearly 16 million acres of public land in Oregon and 425,000 acres in Washington.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Then there were three. After failing recently to acquire the bankrupt Snokist Growers of Yakima, Truitt Brothers of Salem is bowing out of pear canning. Truitt Brothers is urging its 50 growers to do business with Northwest Packing of Vancouver.
