PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – More rain is on the way for Portland after a nearly recording-breaking Saturday. The National Weather Service says nearly eight-tenths of an inch of rain fell Saturday, just a bit under the record set back in 1969. Since Friday, the metro area has already seen about a full inch of rain. More is on the way with a break mid-week.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – A Medford church is challenging requirements set by its insurance company for how it treats sex offenders who attend services. Pastor Chad McComas of Set Free Christian Fellowship tells Mail Tribune that their insurance company is demanding that sex offenders be limited to one service each week and that each have an escort.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – Police responding to a report of a burglary in progress found a body at a home early yesterday in Bend. Lt. Paul Kansky told KTVZ detectives obtained a search warrant to search the home for evidence, assisted by an Oregon State Police crime lab team. Police said there was no threat to the public.

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – Prisoners with clean records at Umatilla’s Two River’s Correctional Institution participated in a different kind of rehabilitation Saturday. About 400 inmates and visitors ate and played games at a picnic at the medium security facility. Prison officials tell the East Oregonian that the picnic was a strong incentive for rehabilitation because it motivates inmates to behave well so they don’t disappoint family and friends.
