SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Ellen Rosenblum will be sworn in this morning as Oregon attorney general. Gov. John Kitzhaber appointed Rosenblum to take over for John Kroger, who is leaving office six months before his term ends to become president of Reed College. Rosenblum won the Democratic primary for attorney general. She is a former judge.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – The Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies rescued lost hiker in the Horse Lake area west of the Pacific Crest Trail overnight. The man’s wife reported they had failed to meet up after separating yesterday afternoon and he had called to say he was lost. The 47-year-old man from Walnut Creek, Calif., was found early today and reunited with his wife at a trailhead.

WALDPORT, Ore. (AP) – Oregon environmental regulators have imposed a $105,000 fine on an RV and fishing resort on the Alsea River. State officials say sewage from the Drift Creek Landing RV Park & Marina was been seeping to the surface and possibly into the river. The park owners say they are working to fix the problems with their old septic system and are contesting the fine.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Portland man accused of punching a female city bus has been arrested for investigation of felony assault. TriMet says 47-year-old Thomas Dunford reportedly became irate on Wednesday when the operator asked him to buy a ticket. The Oregonian reports Dunford was taken into custody by transit police after he punched the driver in the shoulder.
