GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – Police are investigating the death of a man found shot in a Gresham apartment. Police tell KOIN officers responded early today and called the death suspicious. They secured the apartment until they had a search warrant to go back inside for a crime scene investigation.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police gang detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting that wounded a man in Portland. Police say shots were fired yesterday afternoon from a car into a group of men standing near a car wash. The men apparently returned fire and the car sped off. A victim turned up at a hospital with a gunshot wound.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Discarded fireworks ignited a fire in a garbage truck in Portland. The driver tells firefighters yesterday afternoon he had picked up a trash bin with fireworks debris then noticed smoke coming from the truck a few blocks later. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

SEASIDE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon wildlife officers have been called to deal with a large elk that has startled people on the beach at Seaside. KGW reports the elk wandered around the area yesterday and even took a walk on the Seaside Promenade, the popular paved boardwalk. State Police warn people to stay away from the elk because wild animals are unpredictable.
