Pancake Breakfast   7:00 – 9:00

Start your day off with a delicious serving of hot pancakes & scrambled eggs.  7-9 am at the United Methodist Church- 333 Kingwood

Highway 126 Clean-up   7:00am – 1:00pm

A clean-up on both sides of the highway mileposts 0-6.  Organized by Citizens Democracy Watch, Florence Area Democratic Club, and Peace Works.  Contact Person: Jenny  Velinty 997-7573

 

Blessing of the Volunteers     8:00 –8:30

An ecumenical blessing of the volunteers at the Siuslaw High School Football Stadium from 8:00-8:30. Everyone is welcome!

Habitat Home Building   8:00

Help Build 2 Houses at Keener Place. 16 and older welcome to come and help. Experienced builders will show you what to do. 15th Street and Nopal.

POWER Walk  (run, jog, stroll, skip, whatever)  9:00

Join us for a beautiful walk, starting at 9:00 on 2nd St. at Florence Church that loops through Old Town.  Choose a 1 or 2 mile loop. Shirts will be for sale for $10.   If you have a Power of Florence shirt, you can join POWER Walk for free, or make a donation to Quality Child Care of Florence.  Leashed pets welcome.

Beautifying and Rebarking Rolling Dunes Park  9:00

Wear your work clothes and gloves, bring your wheelbarrow, rake and shovel.  The more the merrier! 35th Street   Organized by Delta Gamma Sorority

Face Painting and Body Glitter  9:00- 3:00

Face painting and Body Glitter by Kassy.  She’s donating 1/2 of all of the money made painting faces to scholarships to send local students to CROW summer drama camps. Located in the Grocery Outlet Parking Lot.

Jessalynn’s Button Rings    9:00 – 3:00

11 year old Jessalyn makes adorable, handmade button ring. She plans on donating 1/2 of the money she makes to help other kids go to CROW drama camps.

Lion’s Club Garage Sale  9:00

Money raised stays in our community & is used to help those in need with help in purchasing eyeglasses, vision testing in our schools and with purchase of hearing aids.

Creating a Dog Park at Whispering Pines   9:00

The LDS church will be creating a dog park at Whispering Pines park. Stop by and ask if they could use your help as well.  Kingwood and 15th

Labyrinth Garden Spruce Up   10:00 – 2:00

Members of St. Andrew’s will re-mulch our labyrinth and garden areas, which are open to the public. Join us!  2135 E. 19th Street

Beavers vs. Ducks Food Collecting Contest! 10:00 – 3:00

Which team has stronger supporters and bigger hearts for helping to feed the hungry in our community?  Is it the Beaver Fans or the Duck fans?  Drop off your donated food to the Beaver or Duck team in the Grocery Outlet parking lot between 10:00-3:00.

Bake and Craft Sale   10:00 – 2:00

A bake and craft sale in the Grocery Outlet parking lot to support Helping Hands Coalition. ( homeless day center)

Knit-In       10:00

Join in knitting shawls, lap blankets, baby blankets for those in need. Come if you want to learn about the ministry or learn to knit and crochet. A the United Methodist Church 333 Kingwood.

 

Help Beautify Elementary School Grounds 10:00 – 3:00

Bring your garden gloves, weeding tools and buckets.  Help beautify the front of the Elementary School grounds from 10am-3pm.

 

Pocket Park at Quince and Hwy 101 Clean-Up   10:00

Please bring your gloves, any tools and we will provide the trash bags.

Building a Community Garden   10:00

Ambrosio Kennedy is building a community garden for his Eagle Scout project at St. Mary’s Church. St. Mary’s Youth groups will be helping as well.

Lemon-Aid for Chris Bursaw 10:00 – 3:00

14 year old Chris, was burned in an fireworks accident. Lemonade will be sold for donations and all money will be donated to help cover medical costs for Chris and his family.  Located in the Grocery Outlet Parking Lot.

Florence Area Coordinating Council Popcorn Stand 10- 2:00

We will information about our member volunteer opportunities, as well as information about the FACC. We will be selling popcorn to raise money to help support the Power of Florence.  Located in the Grocery Outlet Parking Lot.

 

Tattoos for Chris Bursaw  10:00-3:00

Oregon Coast Tattoo will be offering $50 intro tattoos with 50% of each one being donated to help cover medical costs for Chris and his family.   1379 Rhododendron Drive A

Beach Clean-Up 10:30 – 1:00

Come and help clean up our beach and enjoy the beauty of the ocean!. We need all the help we can get to keep our beaches beautiful and safe. Join a beach clean-up from 10:30-1:00 at the North Jetty. Meet in the N. Jetty parking lot at 10:30 and join a fun crew of people working to make a difference.

Beautifying Veterans Memorial Park  11:00

The American Legion will be cleaning up the Veterans Memorial park. Anyone is welcome to come and help beautify the park that honors heroes who have served our country.  Located on Bay St. west of the bridge

Beautifying Field across from Veterans Memorial 11:00

The American Legion will be cleaning up the field across from Veterans Memorial park. The field is used todo the flag retirement ceremony on Flag day.

Gallagher’s Park Tidy Up 11:00

Mow, take off old flowers, trim.  Sponsored by  Florence Garden Club and Rhododendron Society corner of Hwy 126 and Spruce Street.

BBQ Hamburger & Hotdog Sale  11:00 – 3:00

Get your delicious hamburgers and hotdogs hot off the grill.  All proceeds benefit the Florence Area Humane Society and goes to caring for the animals.  Grocery Outlet parking lot.

“Stuff the Van” Help Feed Community Animals 11:00-3:00

The Florence Area Humane Society collects dog and cat food to help feed shelter animals as well as helping struggling community members feed their animals.  Bring your donations to the van in the Grocery Outlet parking lot.

Book Signing for “Squeaky’s Farm”   11:00

The Florence Area Humane Society is so grateful that author Carolyn Parker will be be on site on sign copies or her book “Squeaky’s Farm”. Carolyn generously donates all book proceeds to the Humane Society.  Located in the Grocery Outlet Parking Lot

Lavender Sale 11:00 – 3:00

Volunteers for the Florence Area Humane Society will be selling fresh lavender in the Grocery Outlet parking lot. All proceeds for this sale will be used to care for the homeless cats, kittens, dogs and puppies at the shelter.

Neighbor Helping Neighbor in time of Need  11:00 – 3:00

The new “Emergency Preparedness Handbook” will be given out (a $5 value!) along with “Celebrate Safe Communities” pins and other “Goodies”. Located at Grocery Outlet

FAHS Cat and Kitten Adoption   11:00 – 3:00

A few of the adorable cats and kittens cared for by the Florence Area Humane Society will be at the Florence Grocery Outlet.  Come and see some of these sweet animals waiting for their forever home.

Van Fans Ice Cream Social  1:00 -3:00

An ice cream and pie social to raise money to support the Van Fans.  Tickets are $5.00 each and you get pie, ice cream and coffee, tea, or water. Each ticket is entered into a raffle drawing as well. Musical entertainment will be provided.  Located at FEC 715 Quincy St.

Wood Cutting by the Kiwanis Club

The Kiwanis Club of Florence will be having a wood cutting day to provide wood for those who need it for heat and can’t afford to buy it.  Contact Brian Fitch

 

Remodeling and Improving 18th St. Pocket Park

The LDS church is generously remodeling and improving the 18th St. Pocket Park. They have volunteers organized from LDS churches from many coastal communities coming together to help make a difference for Florence this year.  All jobs are currently filled and no other help is needed.

Power of Florence Party in the Park!  3:00 – 6:00

The day will officially end with a “Party in the Park” at Miller Park starting at 3:00. Marty Adams and friends will open with live music at 3:00,  at 3:45 the CROW Drama Camp Kids will perform, and at 4:30 Green Hit Records recording artist, Frankie Hernandez  will perform. The LDS Church is hosting a potluck and  will be offering hotdogs  and sandwiches while they last.  Please bring a store or restaurant dish to share.  Mayor Brubaker will be on hand to says few words about volunteering and community service. Bring your camp chairs, blankets and enjoy the evening of music and entertainment with your Florence neighbors.
