Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Salem City Council has overruled a hearing officer and rejected plans for an apartment complex near the airport. The Statesman Journal reports the council was concerned about noise and traffic as well as the safety of children who would live in the 88-unit complex in a business area.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – New charges have been filed against a 63-year-old man who was living in Texas when police say he recently called them to confess to several unsolved Oregon homicides. Yesterday Jeffrey Paul Cutlip was indicted in the deaths of two women and a 15-year-old girl in 1975, 1977 and 1993. Cutlip was extradited to Oregon earlier this month and is held in the Multnomah County Jail in Portland.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Three teenagers involved in a fire at Woodburn High School in May will have to pay restitution, serve five years of probation, do 40 hours of community service and write letters of apology. Their sentencing yesterday in a plea bargain coincided with the start of school at Woodburn, where damage was estimated at about $6 million and repairs are still under way. The three apologized in court.

BEND, Ore. (AP) – A Bend gas station says it has something offered at no other convenience store in the Northwest – 30 brands of beer on tap. The Stop & Go Shell fills half-gallon growlers or a smaller “growlette” with beer. Co-owner Kizer Couch tells KTVZ they hope to feature at least one beer from every brewery in Bend.
