EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Lane County prosecutors have dropped kidnapping charges against a Florence man who picked up an 11-year-old runaway girl from Junction City. The district attorney’s office filed new charges against 23-year-old Michael Libario Cassaro of custodial interference and recklessly endangering. KVAL reports the girl ran away from home and met up with Cassaro on Aug. 19 in Junction City. He took her to his home where police soon showed up because they had been notified by Junction City police. The girl was returned to her parents.

PORT ORFORD, Ore. (AP) – The chief and at least six firefighters have resigned from the Port Orford fire department. That’s about one-third of the volunteers in the Port Orford Rural Fire District. The World reports Chief Gayle Wilcox led the exodus, citing two years of frustration with the board. The board chairwoman says Port Orford could rely on assistance from area fire departments.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The 23-year-old man who urinated in a Portland drinking-water reservoir will be arraigned tomorrow in Multnomah County Circuit Court. Records filed yesterday indicate Joshua Seater will be charged with misuse of a reservoir. The incident in June 2011 at the Mount Tabor reservoir prompted the Portland Water Bureau to drain the 7.5 million-gallon reservoir at a cost of about $36,000.
