PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say a driver was intoxicated when his car hit two people last night in a marked crosswalk in southeast Portland. The man and woman were taken to a hospital in critical condition. The 50-year-old driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He was arrested on charges of vehicular assault, DUII and reckless driving.
JOSEPH, Ore. (AP) – State biologists have identified a new wolf pack in northeastern Oregon. They’ve spotted two gray adult wolves and their litter of five pups in the Upper Minam River drainage in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. Officials tell The Oregonian the litter is the fifth documented this year in northeastern Oregon, bringing the number of new wolf pups in the state this year to 23.
MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Photos of Playboy playmates have gone from the cover of the magazine to the center of a lawsuit between two guitar makers. Houston guitar designer Stephen Marchione claims he was never paid the royalties owed him by Talent, Ore., guitar builder Steve Clayton for designing three guitars using the Playboy bunny logo. Marchione’s lawsuit filed in Medford seeks $850,000.
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Two small pieces of the boxcar-sized, concrete dock that floated from Japan to the Oregon coast have reached their new, permanent home at the Oregon Historical Society museum in Portland. The two, 20-pound pieces are metal boat tie-offs. They’ll be on display starting today.
