CLACKAMAS, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon sheriff has identified a man sought in the fatal stabbing of a resident in the Portland suburb of Lake Oswego. Clackamas County Sheriff Craig Roberts said last night an arrest warrant for murder has been issued for Erik Meiser. KGW-TV reports that Roberts said the man was identified after officers received more than 300 tips from the public in Monday’s slaying of Frederick Hayes.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Eugene police say a bicyclist has died after colliding with an Amtrak train. Police spokeswoman Jenna McCulley said officers are investigating the collision late yesterday afternoon. The victim’s name has not been made public.
SEASIDE, Ore. (AP) – Investigators have yet to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed three buildings and damaged others in downtown Seaside. Police tell The Daily Astorian that Tuesday’s fire started in a vacant commercial laundry. The fire destroyed the laundry and two other buildings.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A house cat brought a rabid bat home to a Eugene family. Health officials have confirmed the bat found Sept. 14 carried rabies. The Register-Guard reports Lane County health officials urge residents to avoid animals that could be exposed to the rabies virus and to make sure pets are vaccinated.
