PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Gresham police say a fight at a park involving several people has left one woman dead and several others wounded. The fight at Pat Pfeifer Park in the eastern Portland suburb was reported about 4 a.m. yesterday. Several of the victims suffered stab wounds and took themselves to the local hospitals. The name of the woman who died hasn’t been released.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Two schools districts in Oregon are among a growing number of districts nationwide using random drug tests in middle school. The Register-Guard reports the Scio School District, about 25 miles southwest of Salem, conducts about 200 tests each year with about 60 tests at Scio Middle School. Central Linn School District also tests students who participate in sports and extracurricular activities in grades 7-12.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Responders say a Portland woman has been rescued after her jet ski became stuck on a sandbar by Reed Island. The Oregonian says Caitrin Shough’s husband Saturday night told boaters anchored by Rooster Rock State Park about the mishap and went to look for her. Responders say Shough was transported to Mount Hood Medical Center for treatment of hypothermia.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – Sheriff’s deputies responding to a burglary call say they found a 20-year-old man asleep on the kitchen floor of a home in Oregon. The Washington County sheriff’s office says the homeowner discovered the sleeping stranger early Friday. Deputies arrived to find Cristian Villarreal-Castillo, who had in his pockets small electronic devices believed to be stolen from unlocked vehicles. He is now charged with burglary, attempted theft, trespassing and criminal mischief.
