Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Hunters heading out tomorrow on the opening day of deer season in Oregon will find locked gates at the entrances to most private timberlands because of the wildfire danger. The Oregon Forest Industries Council tells the Statesman Journal about 50 percent more member acres are closed this year due to dry conditions.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Eugene high school student who sped away from a traffic stop and crashed, killing two people, has been sentenced to more than six years in prison. Emanuel Herrera-Gutierrez pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter for the March crash that killed Richard Lee Taylor and Toni Lynn Bryson. The Register-Guard reports the teen is not a legal resident of the United States, despite living in the country since he was 2. He’ll likely be deported after his sentence.

GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – A Gresham man was arrested for riding his bike under the influence of alcohol after he collided with a Multnomah County sheriff’s car. Police and the deputy say the 32-year-old admitted having three drinks and had an open container on his bike when he ran a red light early yesterday.

WILSONVILLE, Ore. (AP) – A woman took a wrong turn at a road construction project in Wilsonville and landed in a section of freshly poured cement. Deputies say she couldn’t back out of the concrete and had to be towed. She did not get a ticket.
