Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State University has canceled its promotion to “wear black” at a couple of football games this season because it is seen by some as racially insensitive. The athletic department had printed “wear black” or “wear orange” on tickets, posters and its website to promote school colors at different games in Reser Stadium.

REEDSPORT, Ore. (AP) – The company planning a wave energy installation off Reedsport won’t have its first buoy in the water this year as planned. Ocean Power Technologies says it managed to put one of three anchors in place, but the remaining two anchors will spend the winter in Reedsport while the power generation buoy is stored in Portland. The buoys would use the motion of waves to generate enough electricity for about 1,000 homes.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Police say racial slurs touched off late-night fighting aboard a TriMet bus, and three people were stabbed. All are expected to survive the Tuesday night fracas. Oregon City police said the attacker was shouting slurs, but the exact targets weren’t clear.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The driver of a party bus from which a Portland girl fell and died wasn’t licensed to drive the bus and there were no other adults on board. The company that employs the 61-year-old driver had licenses for four vehicles, but the bus wasn’t one of them. The Oregonian reports the company had recently received a permit to operate in Portland.
