KEIZER, Ore. (AP) – An 84-year-old driver told police she mistook the gas pedal for the brake, drove over a curb and crashed through the front window of a sandwich shop in Keizer. The crash yesterday afternoon injured a Eugene couple, landing them both in Salem Hospital. The Register-Guard reports the driver was not injured.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Police say a homeless man repeatedly stabbed another transient in an argument in a Medford greenway. Sgt. Kerry Curtis says the 32-year-old victim was likely saved by the Medford Fire Department and Mercy ambulance crews. He was hospitalized and is expected to recover. The 61-year-old suspect was tracked yesterday to a camp site where he was arrested on assault charges.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police say a man struck by a car on Hawthorne Bridge has died. The man was struck by a car driven by 70-year-old Floyd Davidson at about 9 a.m. yesterday. Investigators say Davidson was not impaired, and speed was not a factor. The victim’s identity is being withheld.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The AAA auto club reports the average price of a gallon of gasoline in Oregon is $3.85. That’s down 13 cents in a week. It’s 31 cents higher than the national average. Some metro prices — Portland $3.84, Salem $3.80, Eugene-Springfield $3.85, Medford-Ashland $3.87.
