PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A state investigation found that the Mount Hood Community College wilderness education staff used college money to buy personal items and cannot account for $13,000 worth of equipment. The investigation recommends collecting the money from the employees. The Oregonian reports the college board also wants to fire two employees. The program prepares students for careers in outdoor recreation.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — A 20-year-old Medford man has been indicted on 27 charges of sex abuse and rape involving underage girls he met online. Christian Alexander Sanchez was arrested Thursday bail was set at $1 million yesterday. Police tell the Mail Tribune Sanchez engaged in sexting with more than a dozen girls between the ages of 13 and 16 and had sex with at least three of them.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — A 48-year-old man with a history of mental illness had his wish to return to prison granted yesterday when a federal judge sentenced him to more than 12 years. Adam Ashe robbed a Eugene bank in January hours after he was freed from a state prison where he had served time for starting a fire in a waste basket at a Roseburg post office.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) — The city of Salem has issued a permit for work to start next week on a $23 million repair project at the Courthouse Square building. The building owned by Marion County and the transit district has been vacant for two years because of design defects. The 12-year-old building cost $34 million originally.
