Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The roommate of Oregon mall shooter Jacob Tyler Roberts called a tip line hours after the fatal rampage to tell investigators his roommate might be the gunman. Court documents released yesterday also say that the rifle used by Roberts belonged to a friend. Roberts had stayed at the friend’s place the night before the shooting, and the friend awoke to find the rifle missing.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Eugene police have questioned two teenage boys after a school resource officer heard from a teacher that the students might be planning to bring guns to school later this week. The Register-Guard reports that officers talked to the Churchill High School students at their homes yesterday afternoon. Police say they don’t think either boy had immediate access to firearms, and that it’s doubtful the pair had planned to arm themselves before coming to school this Friday.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Gov. John Kitzhaber has released a final draft of his plan to wean Oregon off fossil fuels and increase the use of renewable energy. Kitzhaber wants to use energy efficiency and conservation methods to meet 100 percent of new electric load growth and to make it easier for clean-energy developers to get financial backing and permits for new projects. He also wants to speed up the adoption of more efficient vehicles.

SEASIDE, Ore. (AP) – Officials at the Seaside Aquarium say strong winds pushed two sea turtles ashore along the north Oregon coast. Both are being treated for hypothermia and it’s unknown whether they’ll survive. Aquarium staffers say it’s remarkable if two sea turtles wash ashore in the area in a year, so two in one day is startling.
