PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – Survivors of a fatal bus crash on a rural Oregon highway are retrieving their passports and other belongings so they can finish their journey to Canada. State police officers escorted some survivors one-by-one yesterday to collect their property, which was strewn across a hillside as the tour bus careened 200 feet from a partly icy roadway. The Red Cross says many survivors are too scared to get on another bus, so a car dealer offered to drive them in passenger vehicles.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. (AP) – A 76-year-old Springfield man who had been missing since Friday has been found. A Lane County sheriff’s search team found the man lying in a roadside ditch on Monday afternoon. He was suffering from moderate hypothermia. The Register Guard reports Leslie McAdams was found a few hours after his wife Juanita was found by a Weyerhaeuser employee in the same general area. The couple’s pickup truck was also found in the area.

TILLAMOOK, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon man has been arraigned on one charge of recklessly endangering another person after leaving a loaded gun at a Tillamook movie theater. The Oregonian says 61-year-old Gary Warren Quackenbush appeared in Tillamook County Circuit Court on Monday on the misdemeanor charge. He asked for a court-appointed attorney, which Judge Jonathan Hill denied after determining that Quackenbush didn’t qualify. Quackenbush went to a screening of “The Hobbit” at the Coliseum Theatre with his wife and a 1941 model Beretta. The gun slipped out of his holster. Two seventh-graders found the gun.

SEATTLE (AP) – The number of illegal immigrants in the Pacific Northwest removed from the country keeps dropping. New numbers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement show that just over 6,700 immigrants were removed in fiscal year 2012 from Washington, Oregon and Alaska. That compares with a five-year high of nearly 11,000 expelled in 2008. The 2012 numbers also show that for the first time in five years, the number of illegal immigrants with criminal records declined. The data show that more than 4,500 were removed in 2012, compared with nearly 5,300 the previous year.
